This project at Laurel Hill State Park was for Arcadis U.S. Inc. who is an environmental consultant for CSX Railway. This site was selected as a mitigation project for the CSX Brook Tunnel. Our work included instream timber and rock placement for fish habitat purposes, timber fence installation and parking area restoration and improvements. This project was also particularly difficult as we were awaiting permit approval from the PA DEP, but were still being asked to complete the project before the year end. Never-the-less, the Laurel Highlands threw some nasty weather our way and sent the stream into flood stages over three different events, prohibiting and delaying our work. Our crew persevered and worked through the cold and ice to complete all the work in time, finishing on December 30th.
